On 28 September 2024, we once again organised the LBN Family Fiësta. The community opened their hearts and hands and donated incredible items for the auction. The fun of the day still lies in hanging out, playing and laughing, and of course the delicious food. We do not charge an entrance fee, at the entrance. People could voluntarily buy non-perishable items, which were later used in the food kitchen and food parcels. The income from this amounted to more than R12 000. The support was incredible: more than R13 000 worth of food was brought to the entrances by the public, which was also used in food parcels. We even joked about the toilet paper that would be used for the chili competition. On our knees we said thank you when more than R100 000 was collected, which went directly to the Jumpstart Food Kitchen and Missio Dei Education (MDE).
Our main goal remains awareness, then finances will come naturally. The food is running out, and we see the hunger in the eyes of children. There are many institutions on the West Coast that are already working hard to address this need, but we would like to make the entire community part of this initiative. That is why we are organising a special Gala evening in March 2025 with the focus on invited guests. The funds raised will again go to Jumpstart Food Soup Kitchen and MDE.
